yuidirnt “A fish?” Jun blinked at Ohno. He didn’t know if he should be angry or amused about this gift he got. “You give me a fish as Christmas present?”
Jun looked at the others. He could see that they hid a big grin behind their hands, or a book - like Sho did. Jun would scold them later on. They had decided to make small presents for Christmas for each other. From Aiba Jun got a smoothie maker, from Nino a pair of socks and Sho gave him a new (horrible) bag, but this plastic fish on a small chain was just - ugly and horrible - not horrible like the bag - it was horrible for real.
Ohno blushed. “I am sorry,” he just said.
Jun sighed. “It’s okay.” He stood up and walked outside, pretending that he needed to make a call. Jun felt annoyed. He had bought a special fishing bait for Ohno. He had searched one week to find a shop which sold this one - and Ohno? He just bought a plastic fish?
Jun’s stomach twisted painfully. No matter how hard he tried to tell Ohno about his feelings, Ohno didn’t react to it. But this time Jun knew what it meant - such a stupid present must mean that Ohno didn’t spend a minute with thinking of what he could buy for Jun.
“Jun?” He turned to look at Ohno, who stood some steps behind him, his hands in his pockets.
“Yes?” Jun sighed.
“I am sorry that I bought something you totally don’t like,” Ohno said.
God, Jun wanted to be annoyed, but Ohno’s gentle eyes and his sad smile made his feelings turning upside down. “It’s okay. Maybe I can put it on my house key.”
“No,” Ohno said. He stepped a little closer. “I think I need to explain my intention behind this fish.”
“Intention?” Jun stunned. Did Ohno think about what he should give to Jun?
Ohno nodded. “This mackerel is one of my favourite fishes. And I thought you would recognize what I want to say when I give you something I actually love.”
Jun shook his head. “You … wait …” He stopped. “Did you say love?”
Ohno nodded. He was only a few inches away from Jun. He could feel Ohno’s hand on his waist, stroking up and down there. “Yes.”
Jun laughed. That was so ridiculous and weird - and somehow so Ohno-like. He let himself being pulled into a tight embrace from Ohno. Jun’s heart pounded against his chest. “Please do never talk in signs with me again.”
“I promise,” Ohno chuckled before he leaned forward to kiss Jun.
