The joys of creating

I've spent the majority of the afternoon sorting through my various and sundry shrine materials. I have been picking things up here and there for awhile now and I've really got quite the collection of odd bits to work with. Truth be told, it feels really good to have such a cache to choose elements from. I've got fabric, metal bits, teeny picture frames, old jewelry, and other ephemera.

And! I've decided to fool around with soldering metal legs and feet for a few of my birds.

I have about 4 boxes that I am ready to start on. I have to prepare the "environments" for each of the pieces. Sanding, sawing, painting, affixing, and all manner of making them awesome.

The casting process goes a bit slower. Much of the problem weighs on the fact that rubber as well as resin is a bit costly. I need at least 3 more rubber molds (although I already have the birds) and a heck of a lot of resin to actually cast all the birds that I need. The resin isn't as costly as the rubber, and I can buy a large quantity and save some cash. The rubber, in bulk, is really a large nut. And until I actually get a little more established with this whole thing, I am going to have to buy it bit by bit, as I can afford it. At least I have plenty of other things to work on in the meantime! Namely, the boxes themselves.

It feels good to be moving more and more into this concept, and actually having such a clear vision as to where I want to take it.

I was thinking recently that I have been wanting to do this for a really long time. It took me awhile to find the "theme", and to learn a few skills...but I am here now and its really really great.
