- everything is pretty much summed up in the previous post
The second Alice was meek
Singing a song, to the Wonderland
Flooding with various tones
Created a mad world
That Alice, a flower of a rose
Got shot and killed by a crazy man
Bloomed a single flower truly red
Loved and enjoyed by everyone, withered away
A young man with brilliant red hair with an eyepatch over his right eye hummed to himself as he walked down the lone country road. His left eye swept left and right, capturing the scenery within its green confines. He looked down at the music sheets in his hand. The notes danced across the papers in a code that only those who study the ways of music will know. His pen ran across a few lines, cancelling out a few notes and replacing them with other notes. The wind blew lightly, playing with the orange scarf around his neck as the singer continued walking down the road.
The dream saw him coming. Fresh from the promise of staying alive after trapping Kanda Yuu in Wonderland, it sought more hosts. “The singer will make a perfect world,” it said. It brought out the second cursed item with a blue diamond stamped on the back.
Lavi bit his index finger lightly. Somehow or another he was not entirely satisfied with the score in his hand. “Damn it, where is it that’s wrong?” he said to himself. He seriously felt like tearing the sheets apart. He did not know why, but the song made no sense to him. There was an upcoming concert in the nearby town and he was hoping to earn some money through it. Maybe someone would offer to be his label manager after that.
“Do you want a song? A perfect song?” a voice in his head said. Lavi stopped dead in his tracks. He was certain he heard someone speaking to him but all around him, there was nothing but trees, grass and the road. He thought the long practice hours devoted to his career had finally driven him mad. “Oh, you’re not hearing things,” it continued to say. “I can grant you your wish. Your desire to sing the most beautiful song in the world.”
The most beautiful song in the world. It was every singer’s fantasy. Lavi could picture himself doing that. He would not be a travelling singer anymore. He would have his own concert hall and an audience dedicated to hearing his songs. And who would not jump at the chance to see this so-called ‘the perfect song’?
The dream smiled and handed him a music score. One look at it and it was proof enough that the song was the best. The dream took the chance to take over his mind. Lavi’s green eye turned blue and the bit of chest that his scarf and shirt did not cover had the mark of a blue diamond. Lavi smiled. It was the smile of someone whose mental barriers had been dislodged. “I’ll sing this wherever I go,” he told himself.
Lavi felt almost proud. The song was haunting yet the notes blended with each other perfectly to make it sound hypnotic at the same time. Wherever he went, he would sing this song. A trail of people would follow him, dancing as he went along. It reminded him of the Pied Piper story he read when he was younger. He was deeply engrossed with letting people hear the song that he unintentionally wandered into Wonderland. The people of Wonderland heard his song fell for the hypnotic spell too. Wherever he went, a group of people would be there dancing to the song he sang. The dream possessing Lavi grew bored of the constant scenery after a while.
“Lavi, it’s time you held your end of the bargain,” the dream said. Lavi stopped singing and blinked in confusion.
“My end of the bargain? It was to keep you alive right?” he asked.
The dream could almost see it. Lavi’s inevitable end was drawing near. “Yes. It was to keep me alive,” it said. It could see a man hypnotised by Lavi’s song. He was dancing crazily as Lavi resumed singing. Suddenly, he produced a gun out of nowhere and fired a few shots. Some shots hit the nearby people who stained the ground red. One of the shots struck Lavi’s heart. The velocity of the bullet was strong enough to emerge from the other side of Lavi’s body. The song never stopped, but the singer stopped moving and fell to the ground, still singing with his dying breath. From the wound in his chest, tendrils of green crept out and grew out as its host’s life slowly ebbed away. At the front, a blue flower bud emerged from the green tendrils. It was small at first, but as the song notes grew softer, the flower bud grew larger. It eventually burst into a blue rose. The song was now so soft that it could hardly be heard. Lavi looked at the sky once more and the last notes faded with his last breath. The blue rose was in full bloom. It was the most beautiful rose any human ever set their eyes on. But the serene blue hue of the rose was tainted red with the blood of its host. Many people came to pick the rose. It always grew back when it was picked. And despite the number of times people plucked it off, the flower that grew back will always be blue with red. Eventually, the rose was forgotten by all, just a tale handed down from generation to generation. But the body of the singer never disappeared. It was kept in a room with a blue door as the only entrance and exit.
The dream looked back at the blue door, with blue roses decorating the entrance. “Such is your fate, Alice of Diamonds,” it said as it went off to find a new host.
A/N: ok, edited a few things. In this chapter, Kaito (the original) was handed a music score by something. But I can’t see it so I assumed it was the dream. And the body of Kaito never rotted. It was still there when the brother of the twins sliced off the rose with Meiko’s sword. Also edited the previous chapter. Meiko has given an invitation by the dream who handed her the sword. But I like dramatics so made it Sword-in-the-Stone(ish). Also I forgot about the part of the red door -____-
