I HAVE TO write it down!!! I'm writing in English, since a lot of the sense and color will be lost in translation.
Argument between David (4 y/o; hereinafter D) and Fiona (6 y/o; hereinafter F). And myself (29 y/o; hereinafter M).
Situation: Fiona (the girl I babysit on Mondays) is making peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches for all of us.
F: Nina, I'm making a big sandwich for you and two half-sandwiches for David and myself.
D: But I want a big one tooo.
F: No, David, I'm the one who makes sandwiches, I will decide who gets what. Nina will have the big one.
D: I don't WANT half sandwich, I want a big one!!!
F: You should be happy with what you get! If you are not happy with what I give you, you will get nothing!
Here I was trying to make peace between them and to swap sandwiches with David, didn't succeed.
D: I don't want this sandwich, I want my mom to make a sandwich for me! I won't eat this sandwich!
F: Then I will eat all these sandwiches (3 of them)! And you are not having anything!
D: I won't come here ever again! Never-ever.
F: Yes, you will! Your mom will be coming on tuesday and you will be coming withher!
D: No, I wont, I will tell my mom not to come here ever again.
F: 4-and-5-and-even-6-year-olds don't tell their parents what to do.
D: I will never come here again, right Mom? I will only go to my friends' homes: Riley, Anders, Itamar, Will Taft. I have many friends (starts to count his friends)
F: I have even more friends (counts...) and my friends are even older then yours.
D: No, my friends are older!
F: But your friends are probably pre-schoolers.
D: They are not pre-schoolers, they are Riley, Will, Itamar... They go to school!
F: But my school is upto 9th grade.
D: My school is upto 5-6-7-9-ELEVENTEEN grade!
F: There is no ELEVENTEEN! Eleventeen is really twelve!
D: Yes, there is eleventeen! It's even more!
At this point they started to raise their voices, so I asked them to keep it down.
After that I intervened in snack-making and everyone had their sandwich. And the argument faded.
What can I say, kids were very civilized, they didn't act out or cry. I was very proud of my 4 year old :)
