CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - QUEER SEX ED

Since I've already taken the class offered, I have to complete a research project to get a final health credit for my high school. After having a really infuriating conversation with the class, I left feeling totally unsafe and excluded, being the only person in the room comfortable talking about my sexuality and gender identity and realizing that any discussion on sex in the class was going to be focused on hetero relationships unless more people spoke up. Obviously openly talking about your orientation isn't easy in high school, especially in an environment that's already proven itself to be queerphobic.

So I'm writing a research paper and making a zine on how to talk about queer sex with teenagers and why it's important.

I'm looking for your experiences either as a teenager or someone who was once a teenager. You don't have to identify as queer to contribute.

What was your high school's sex ed like?
Did you feel safe in that environment?
Did you feel unsafe?
Did you feel like you could talk about your identity with your peers? teachers?
Did you have abstinence-only sex ed?
etc.

please email submissions to avocado@riseup.net

okay! thanks.
