I was talking to my dad in the car yesterday.
The housing market in the Outer Banks is ridiculous right now; I think something like 5% of the houses are on the market right now, which is an insane number. What this means is that while our house will probably be sold eventually, it'll probably take a few years. Which means there is the possibility that we'll still have it by the time I graduate.
I would really, really love to have a kind of "senior week" thing at my house with a few people, except...classier. And it would probably be towards the end of the summer (July or August) since I have my trip to Europe in June. I think it'd be a lot of fun if it were just a few of us; just a relaxed vacation at the beach, not insane amounts of madness. I mentioned it to my dad and he wasn't terribly keen on the suggestion, but he admitted it would depend on the people I brought; he also acknowledged the fact that my friends would be "more likely to be on better behavior" since it was my house. Which is legit; anyone who fucks with my childhood home is getting a fist through their teeth, and I don't care if I bleed.
Anyway, food for thought. It has its pros and cons, I guess. The big pro is, hey, we don't have to pay for anything except groceries and the beach is seriously right there. Not to mention the fact that it'll be a lot less seedy than Myrtle beach (although it could be argued that the whole point of senior week is seediness) and a lot more...I don't know. Mature and classy, I guess. :) But the con side is that, since it'd be my house, everyone would be limited on what they can do in it; I mean that in the sense that there would be absolutely ZERO bringing of sketchy guys to the house. I don't care how hot they are. 18 year old boys are clinically retarded, and I don't want them fucking up my house. They can invite us over to theirs if they want to. And, naturally, everyone would need to clean up after themselves because...well, my family is the owner, so whatever mess we'd leave would have to be cleaned up by me and my parents.
Meh. Just putting it out there. :P
Fun evening yesterday, albeit a little random. I was feeling antsy when I got home from belly dancing, so I decided to just leave early and go to Borders. Sipping a smoothie in the sunlight while reading Cosmopolitan = best ever. <333 I went to Frederick around 6:45 or so, and ate at the Market Street Cafe. I made the mistake of getting my sandwich on white bread, forgetting that here, white bread means...synthetics. Yum! It wasn't bad, though, and I enjoyed watching people walk by from my handy window seat; there were a lot of people out for a night on the town. I also think there might have been a school's prom going on; I saw a number of guys around my age in suits, which would pretty much preclude any other conclusion. Sadly, men don't just wear suits for kicks.
I met everyone else (Sam, Sam F, Torey, Mara (sp?), Christie, Greta, and CJ) at the MET. To cut a long story short, the Vagina Monologues weren't playing; MET is so fucking disorganized. Instead, Urinetown was showing, and the Monologues won't be playing until "June or July", according to the random lady. Fantastic. We briefly considered seeing Urinetown instead, but the place was so full that our seats would have had to be all over the theatre, which wouldn't be a great deal of fun. So we nixed that idea and went to Rita's Italian Ice instead, after which we stopped by Westview. There are NO fucking good movies playing right now. It's absolutely pitiful. Thank god this will be fixed next week when FUCKING X-MEN 3 comes out, baby! Squeeeeee! It's going to be so good, even if it's terrible. Hugh Jackmaaaan.
Anyway, we ended up playing Scattergories and charades at Sam's house. Claire showed up and she and I won the first Scattergories round. I AM INVINCIBLE! I think it's one of those games where it's only funny if you're a.) drunk or b.) really into it. I think, fortunately, that we were the latter--and unfortunately not the former?--although I will say that if we'd played another full round, it probably would have gotten old. But this is probably just because I am a grumpy, grumpy woman who cannot play games. XD
I managed to make it home at exactly midnight. Snaps for Cat, indeed; I love driving on the highway at night. It's so cathartic. I was also passed by a cop, who was probably going about 90 in a 55 MPH zone; does that piss off anyone else? That level of hypocrisy really infuriates me, and the worst bit is that no one can really do anything about it because HE'S THE DAMN COP. So fuck that guy/woman. They shouldn't have been speeding, even if I was too.
And now...it is Sunday. I woke up around 9:00, for whatever weird reason, and I'm actually not that tired even after going to bed around 2:00. Strange indeed. I suppose I'll shower, and then maybe do some homework before belly dancing. My recital starts at 5:00 and I'm afraaaaaaid. XD But it'll all be over quickly, thank god.
Pwaaaah. Life. :)
