I had to get up at 6:40 today so I could drive up to New Jersey. Lovely. Thankfully, I literally slept for about 90% of the way there, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
Princeton was beautiful, of course. The campus was probably the most gorgeous I've ever seen; big, shady trees, gorgeous architecture, and so forth. But, unfortunately, it is by Princeton, New Jersey, and Princeton, New Jersey is not the most exciting place in the world. I'm really, really set on having a university near or in a city, and Princeton--for all its niceties--just isn't that. Although I was definitely amused by this one guy in our group who was just the epitome of nerd. He had on the collared shirt with tasteful blue sweater overtop, pleated (pleated!) khaki pants, loafers, blue jacket, glasses...the works, man. He would have been cute if he didn't look so bloody uptight. Our guide was also a little pompous, but I suppose that's to be expected, since the people who do tours tend to be the overachievers of the world. So Princeton was beautiful but not for me.
I had a SANDWICH OF ORGASM (turkey, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and bacon...mmmm) and then we drove down to University of Delaware, which is emphatically not for me. It reminded me way too much of Hood College, and I just didn't like the feel of it at all. I might apply just for the sake of their honors' program--which is apparently very good--but I'm probably not going to be able to guilt myself into going there unless they literally offer me a full ride, which isn't very likely. So that's that. And then we came home and that was fairly uneventful, and now I'm going to spend the rest of my evening outlining chapter 1 of my AP US book. Awesome. Chapters two and three will be done Saturday and Sunday, respectively. See? See? I'm planning ahead and not procrastinating!
On the plus side, my dad bought Pinot Noir for tonight. XD Oh, Sideways. How I love thee.
That's that. Perhaps I will call someone and go out later tonight, because I'm not sure how long I'm going to last cooped up, doing work.
Peace, love, and shaggy hair--
