A quote from
At Root of the Cycle of Terror: An Eye for an Eye, by Joe Hung at "The China Post" from Taiwan:
The root cause of all the trouble is vendetta. An eye for an eye. It was so for the Crusades against the Muslims in the Middle Ages. So it was in the Thirty Years' War. So is it in the wars in the Middle East, which started with the partition of Palestine and the creation of Israel in 1948. Displaced Arabs killed Israelis, who retaliated in kind. Both Arabs and Jews - both which claim to have descended from Abraham - believe there should be an eye for an eye. Retaliation breeds more retaliation. It is a vicious cycle...
Mohandas K. Gandhi..."An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."
There should be no revenge. God, according to Christ, declared "vengeance is mine."
That does not mean the world must condone in any way the psychopathic mindset of those who have twisted murder, torture, killing and hatred into virtues with the horrendous results in New York, Bali, Jerusalem, Baghdad, Madrid and London.

I found this interesting. It's a point to be taken both in its context as well as other wars and feuds that are running and continuing today [regardless of history and/or religion].
I understand that practically it will not be applied in my lifetime, but cynicism and hate are the flavors of the day--even if I don't like the taste.
