Coming to America
Well, the girlfriend got a nice multi-entry visa good for a certain number of days and usable for one year.
So...we're going to visit my parents on my birthday. :-)
My mother and aunt came last year for a week.
I haven't seen my father, sister, sister's kids, or anyone else in 3 years.
It should be nice to see people and get a vacation. (And I really need a vacation.)
However, I'm not excited about the culture shock. I'm sure to have some, as the whole area as well as the country have changed...and so have I.
My girlfriend will adjust more easily.
[Unlike many who leave, I love my country...but I also see her mistakes, her pains, and her successes more vividly...and I know what it's like to lose my 'tourist' mindset somewhere else.]
3 weeks...that's not a bad deal. I need the change--seriously!
[Then again...it means I won't have that few thousand $ sitting around should I decide to buy more toys with it. :-\ ]
