I was shopping today. That's madness and joy.
I saw some nice coats and such...in the windows on my way to the women's clothing stores.
As for women's clothes, I'm glad the 80's are becoming more popular in Europe.
I was enjoying clothes that fit different lifestyles that I enjoy.
But sometimes there is still the 70's objects lingering and that's just something for me to laugh at.
It's like: "Hey, my mom has that in her closet if you want one like it."
Also a nice habit is that the culture here is a little more open, so clothes are allowed to be much more provocative. It's nice for men, and women are quite comfortable wearing it. I sometimes enjoy more being able to laugh at the men (especially foreigners) that are staring at the women or trying to get their attention.
Then there are shoes. I think Saint Petersburg with its 5 million people (officially about 2.6 million are women, but it's really more like 3.7 million), has more shoe stores than New York City. Hmm...probably more than Prague (it's seems to be the European shopping center). Anyway, while the shoes come from all different countries and companies, women buy shoes for the same reasons as other Europeans or Americans - EVERY reason.
Well, the shoes that are particularly Russian will remind you of that shoe that has the toe on it to make it look like it goes out longer than Pinocchio's nose and back up and around (with a curl).
Then the others have ends that come to a square. Exactly the opposite of the others. It's like their made for feet that don't have toes. I think, 'I'm not a block foot.'
I guess that I'm just a tennis shoe person. While I like other shoes at home (read: USA), I just don't want to torture my feet.
Women here especially. They walk around with shoes on and band-aids on parts of their feet where they rub. Not just a few women, but most women who have shoes on; unless they're wearing sandals or straps. Personally, I like comfort and function as well as attraction. But then, it's natural for women all over the world to torture themselves to maintain some look. It's quite interesting, but they will regularly damage themselves in competition with other women.
OK, I'm being rushed off now because have to carry stuff back to another place and then again back to my apartment. But this is definitely a follow-up subject.
