Well, no real Thanksgiving for me. Too bad.
suaiden reminded me that it was Thanksgiving and our discussion of turkey made me miss the food. Thus, this helped to remind me to call home (or where they are now) and say Happy Thanksgiving.
Then I forgot. What's new.
Later, my friend Justin called to say hello and Happy Thanksgiving. Luckily, he learned a lot about my culture in school and also has family that lives in America (and several other countries it seems).
Anyway, thank you, Justin (if you read my crap). :-)
So, this prompted my girlfriend to remind me that it was Thanksgiving also. So, I came home and had a nice cup of tea (herbal cinnamon and clove, it's festive enough). Then I called Justin back and later my parents, aunts, uncles, grandmother, and cousins.
Alas, I got to talk a little shop with most of them. Well, I like to talk shop. I don't care what anyone does for a living, I know enough to get the conversation started and then I learn from what I can. Anyway, this time around I was recommended looking into some human relations things (something that I've actually been reading lately anyway in business books).
Also, I pointed out the economic climate here, of course! I was discussing travel and it was pointed out that I like Poland (I love it) and that the economy is growing well there. I said yes, but still I think it's better in Russia (we don't have the economic restrictions that the European Union does). Also, our inflation for 2005 so far has been just over 11% in Saint Petersburg and the economy is fun to watch. Just today I saw an advertisement for a banking mutual fund promising a 28.5% return after 1 year! If you don't know what that is, lets just say that if I had money, I would try it out. As long as I can find the backing, background of the fund, and other info, I would hit that as fast as I could. Faster than I would be buying Nestle shares! [Note: Nestle is a very healthy company that recently went down 0.5% in stock value because Italy--and others--removed their baby milk from shelves. The situation was repaired before Italy made a big deal and tried to get some political clout, but that makes it at least a short-term buy in my book.]
Well, I don't spend money on any of it now. Too bad for me.
Still, I miss that damn turkey today!
