Well, we have another Russian Holiday on Friday.
I say 'another', it's actually "Union Day", but most Russians will either not know what the holiday is for or just not care. Anyway, it is a many times morphed holiday from religion to state to what it is now...a day off.
I don't want a day off.
Anyway, I'm not sure what a 'day off' will bring. Mostly self-reflection, I'm sure. Then I'll need to prod myself into finding more to do and will be thinking about 'sorting out my life.'
Oh, well. Confusion is normal experience in the human existence. Some people are confused, and then there are the few who are simply self-confused.
OK, I should sleep more now. [I won't, of course, but there fact remains that I should.]
Hmmm, what do do with this damned vacation. Maybe I'll read and study or do financial crap or something. I seem to be proficient at that these days.
OH! Speaking of vacations...
I am required to exit Russia and return sometime in January. Actually, it's a formality of having a multiply entry business visa. So, the g/f wants to go to Estonia. I think I prefer Finland, because I get to speak English and I know a little about their economy and system. I also learned some about Latvia and on the trip here had a discussion with a Latvian opera singer who had been touring the US, and find the prospect interesting. However, she is thinking in financial terms, because while Estonians aren't big fans of Russia or Russians (including tourists), they are quite cheap and the whole 3 day vacation package with tours is around $200 (with hotel, tour packages, and the g/f visa, because I don't need a visa in the EU).
Personally, I think that this vacation doesn't require all of these tour group things. She only prefers them because she knows it's easier for her to get a visa, but she doesn't realize that they are working to make the visa processes across Europe (and with Russia) more streamlined and 'free'. Anyhow, I think she's going to get stuck with a long term visa this time, because we'll have to go again in Summer and I prefer to get her some Shengen credibility.
I guess it's only 3 days and we'll never really see much if we are traveling around. Besides, I seem to do just fine in places of the world where the people refuse to speak your language (or any other language I might be able to communicate in).
And last, while I told her, I will put it here too: 30 October was my sister's birthday...so Happy Birthday, Sis. [Although, I doubt you take the time to read me anyway. :-P]
