I feel ridiculously proud of myself for this:
Today was the first time I made a cake from scratch, the first time I made buttercream (mocha buttercream mmm), the first time I made ganache (very dark chocolate and rum, because everything else was so sweet), the first time I've trimmed a cake (only the bottom layer, as you might notice in the photo XD)... and it tastes pretty darn good if I do say so myself (though it doesn't look particularly nice, I tried shaving some chocolate but couldn't really get it to work, and my brief adventure with improvised piping only proved that our plastic bags are way too thin to stand up to thick buttercream)!
Every time I bake something new I feel really proud of myself... cooking is kind of easier because you can just throw things in to taste, but you can't really wing baking like that unless you really know how recipes work already. ^^; On the whole, I think I enjoy making sweets much more though. XD
... and I may or may not have been watching Yumeiro Patissiere lately, just sayin.
