Weekend Plans Plus

So, we are getting the floors refinished next month, meaning we will be living down in the inlaw with a kitchenette that has no stove or fridge and an iffy toilet. No shower. Ha ha ha. *weep*

I had the floors done before we moved in about 9 years ago. They have seen some very hard use. We are very active in-house walkers and pushers-back of chairs. It is showing quite a bit of damage, especially since the maid tries to mop the wood floors with water unless we stop her. Maybe she has a cousin who owns a floor-refinishing business, it just now occurs to my paranoid mind. Bad mind!

KaBoom is this weekend, and so is a benefit concert with our friend Nancy singing with her voice instructor (they have very similar lyric voices). KaBoom will be at Candlestick Park, in my hood. I could walk to it, theoretically, not that I WOULD.

But I might. Lots of fireworks will be set off with no danger of frightening the twembwy wittle Stinky Terrierist since he is now deafish. It's going to be cold, probably. It's been the coldest May on record (I am making this up, but it has never been this chilly in May since I moved here) and also the rainiest. Imagine, rain in May! HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD? It has, of course, since we screwed up the factory settings with our fossil-fuel use and so on.

1st jumbo coffee finished. One to go. I buy two large coffees downstairs at the Fair Trade Cafe every morning, piously bypassing Starbucks. This gives me the feeling that I have done something worthwhile and progressive! Heh.

Shall I buy Mrs. Skwashy a puppy for her birthday? She has emphatically stated that she DOES NOT WANT ONE. She coos over little pupply-wupplies however, and puppies do make one happy in general. Oh, I know it would bomb, but...WANT PUPPY. WANTWANTWANT. We saw a Boston Terrier puppy yesterday, with its huge walky paws (OMG death by cuteness want), and it woke up the puppy-yearning. Of course Boston Terriers are wonderful little dogs, so friendly and cheerful! So playful and adorable! If only we could be at home with the dogs and not have to work outside the house all the time. And move to an urban area that is a little less crowded. Oh, and cheaper. And as pretty as San Francisco, and as close to wilderness; parky wilderness is all right as long as it's National Parky and allows camping.

We HAVE to go camping soon. I'm having the urge to cook a 4-course meal over a campfire. Not. But I do like camp cooking. Generally we make meals in advance and freeze them, put them in the cooler along with a jug of frozen milk and then just use them as we need them. They keep each other cold.

There, that's a camping tip (which you all probably know already). We pack unfrozen things too: steaks, sausages, bacon and eggs, fruit, sodas, wine and liquor. Oh, there has to be a wine region in my new home location (adds that to list) so we can stay drunk on the local wine while we are home with the dogs.

Hrmph. Who am I kidding? It's not as though we'd ever be without jobs. We like having money. It's too much work to be poor and we are lazy.

The weather-guessers are promising some sun tomorrow. Mrs. Skwashy is going out of town for a church thing again, so I will be home with the Terrierist in case y'all want to come over and enjoy an afternoon of mild inebriation with me, on local wine of course (though have you noticed that Charles Shaw is now coming from Australia?)(heh). The garden is blooming and a little chaotic, but after I do a little work on it I am going to find a way to hang the glider and do some serious drunken dozing therein with the dog lying on me, slowly poisoning me by breathing stinky breath on my face while I am in a comfy stupor.
