Ai yai yai. It is SO hot. Well, not really, but I think traveling into warm weather and then coming back to our cool coastal summer temperatures has made my own personal feminine thermostat fluctuate in a hoydenish and unreasonable way.
Well, back in the garden where it is cool and lovely: the lovely cool wind dried everything out yesterday. I have one anchusa which is particularly vulnerable to drought and it dies regularly. It can be revived with water, it seems, but it looks a little worse each time AND it's now full of holes. I can't find what is eating it; probably caterpillars since we have a booming crop of them this year for some reason. Yep, we're runnin' six, seven thousand head of caterpillar here at Rancho Escuachi. All the buddleias are maimed and horrible-looking and even the frankly malodorous clerodendrum is being attacked. The funky stench of the leaves is no protection. The clerodendrum needs some of the Terrierist's breath ray; that would foil even the most determined and persistent caterpillar.
And the Terrierist was eating grass again this morning. *Sigh* The spotted tummy was not at all well. At least he is thoroughly housebroken and never vomits.
Blocks finished:
Centered Eyelet Diamonds
Almost finished:
Harebell Lace (it sounds like "hairball" doesn't it?)
Gracenotes
I believe in starting many many blocks at once and then just working the fun ones. Why not? What's the hurry anyway, I'd like to know.
