Not Complaining

What a gorgeous day it was. Sunny, warm with a cool breeze that erased the smell of spoiled leftover fish which had filled the house when Mrs. Skwashy cleaned the fridge (she protects me from spoiled food you see--this is a close as I ever get to spoiled food).

We went to Floorcraft and bought more peppers--actually they were supposed to be more bell peppers(we wanted lots of bell peppers to make pepper jelly) but I accidentally picked up an Anaheim. I don't like them. I prefer prepared hot peppers.

I planted lots of little lettuces and lots of spicy salad greens, having bought a seed mix that promises exotic leafy greens. The collards and chard are still growing very well. I could eat greens till I fall over dead, I love 'em so much. The corn (I've got 19 corn plants) is getting very tall, about 3' now and SO pretty. Aren't they good-looking?

Oh! And the tigridia are beginning to bud already! Could it be because I actually watered them and protected them from slugs this year? They are gorgeous in bloom:

These are not mine, but it wouldn't be a day unless I posted a flower picture, would it? It has to be done.

Some of the things I am grateful for:
1. My wife is fit and healthy
2. My meds are current and I'm fit and healthy
3. Our garden is beautiful (to me) and bountiful
4. The weather is utterly perfect
5. We found Spaten Optimator at BevMo
All I lack right now is ice cream and I'm not even missing it.

Oh! And I received a book in the mail called "RETRO knits" that is just what I needed, even though I didn't know I needed it. It was a surprise gift from gothchick_marie, who also sent a nautical book to my wife. We adore her.

Speaking of retro knitting patterns, here is something I found (a zillion years after everyone else in the world found it): http://www.yesterknits.com/
