what type of material do you use as base for your dolls? I am making my first doll and am using paperclay...

Thank you! I use super sculpey. I would like to try paperclay but my working area is so small, I'm afraid it's too messy.

trust me, if i can use paperclay on my worktable, **you** can! you should give it a try sometime!

another really good "clay" is apoxiesculpt...VERY strong, esp if you're going to be doing lil' fingers and such.

I just went to the site and looked at the stuff people made with it - I think I'm going to try it! Jason doesn't want to because it dries too fast for him, he likes to fuss over details for weeks. Once you mix it, does it dry within 3 hours or will it stay wet if you keep it covered? If you have a piece that's been cured, can you add on to it after that? Like, finish a head, cure it, and then put it on a body?

The face on that painting is killing me. It's definitely finished. What surface are you working on?

Thanks! It's stretched canvas.

What type of materials do you use in making of the dolls? paper clay and what type of paint? to make it seem so glossy

I'm using super sculpey, actually, I've never tried paper clay. For the paint, I use oil paint (I gesso the doll first with 3 coats) mixed with a liberal amount of Winsor & Newton 'Liquin' which makes it dry faster and also gives it the glossy look.
