Sungmin was the first to arrive at the hospital when they got the call that Heechul was in the hospital. It was Sungmin that stayed clutching his hyung's hand through the first agonizing night after the surgery. It was Sungmin that walked into the room when Heechul was bent over his laptop crying when he read what the anti's had said.
They were merely band mates, nothing more. Neither had secret feelings for the other, unlike some of the others in the group. In fact, they hadn't really been close before the accident at all. When they heard that Heechul was lucky to make it out alive, Sungmin decided that he would have regretted not knowing Heechul more.
No matter what people said about him, that he was gay, evil, stupid, annoying, or anything else they might have said, Sungmin knew this all to be lies. Because it was also Sungmin who discovered Heechul's biggest kept secret.
Heechul always carries a locket with a picture of all the members inside. Of course Heechul would never admit it, but the locket never left his sight. Even when he was performing it would be tucked into a pocket, tied onto his hair, or even in extreme cases, put into his shoes. But that locket never left Heechul's side and it was because he needed to feel like his beloved members were always with him, even when he was alone.
Sungmin had been the first at the hospital, the first one there to see the surgeon coming out of Heechul's operating room, the first one that received the news that he hadn't died on the table. When the doctor gave him Heechul's belongings that were found on him at the crash site, he was also the first and only member to know that Heechul cared more than he wanted to admit.
