Depressed about America
My wigs and hat was eventually returned to me. It was a pain to go through playing detective to find them, though. The USPS actually is going through a financial crisis right now, so I guess it makes sense, sadly. I wonder what will happen if USPS just shuts down? We're not far away from a future where everything in America is privatized.
I've attempted to attend the local Gay Straight Alliance Club on campus and it was just as disappointing as I am with the Gay Community out here. I'm now convinced that our younger generations have deteriorated, swallowed up by materialism, selfishness and an all around lazy demeanor. Activism seems pretty dead, over all. When the Gay Community considered attending a Britney Spears concert at a hall outside of the Gay Community with no connection, donating or activism for the gay Community, then how the flipping Jesus is it a "huge success" for the Gay Community? I can attend a Metallica concert and claim it was a "huge success" for the SPCA, but that doesn't make it an once true if all Metallica did was play music then leave the city. The same goes for my campus Gay Straight Alliance. You can't throw a random pizza party with hip=hop theme, while omitting the name of the club from being mentioned at said party, then have one of the flamboyant gay students do a strip dance.... and call it a success for the Gay Straight Alliance. I just don't see how that event did anything to bring gay-hating students to attending the club. Most people I saw came, ate pizza, then left. Having a flamboyant gay student cross dress and strip down to a one-piece floral nylon and underwear AT A SCHOOL SPONSORED EVENT doesn't help break down Gay stereotypes, it upholds them.
My second job threatened to fire me. I love how the managers constantly contradict themselves. They will publicly over the employee walkies tell us how we've made goal, and gives us free food for winning the district contest for making the most money. And yet then turn around, and send employees home early half way through their shifts claiming we didn't make goal and have to cut hours. Especially when we're in the middle of a busy as all heck day where the employees are struggling just to keep up with the large mass of customers. And then max out said employees hours saying we're in a busy season and they will be tapping into giving all employees max hours. How can you cut our hours while giving is more? Putting on the calendar that I have 8 hour shifts aren't 8 hour shifts if you keep sending me and other employees home after 4 hours. Also threatening to fire me over "not having enough availability" while sending me home half way through my shift is also just stupid. We as employees aren't retarded. We know you just hired a bunch of new employees at a lower wage. We know you want to bully us into leaving. We're not stupid. So quit treating us like we don't hear the sh*t coming out of your over paid mouths.
All companies don't seem to give a shit about the future of America and its non-rich working class. There is no more jobs for us, and those that are left they treat us like sh*t. Anyone willing to spend the rest of their lives working minimum wage with no medical is welcome to it. I'm really sick of all this BS. We're just a country of Corporations. America, Inc.
Honestly the longer I live here (lived here all my life), the more I come to despise America. We're an empire in its twilight. I don't want to be here when the roof caves in on us. I plan on moving out asap after I finish my degree in two quarters.
