Greetings from Spain

Last night I went to what can only be categorized as a rave, think loud electro music packed full of party beats (TG style), beer bongs, so much second hand smoke I thought I was never going to breathe fresh air again and peeing in the bushes. It was both terrifying and exciting, we didn´t get back to Marta´s apartment until 5:30 in the morning (which isn´t actually as bad as it sounds considering we had planned to stay out until 7). I´m glad I agreed to go because I can say I did, but it´s not something I would do again willingly. Marta wanted to go and I didn´t want to be her lame canadian friend, cramping her style and she was gracious enough to spend most of the day taking me on a walking tour around Madrid so I felt I owed her.

Today Marta´s dad, Quico, took me to a town on the mountainside called el Escorial. We went on a tour of a huge monastery that used to be the weekend palace of the Spanish monarchs and all the old kings are entombed there. It was really incredible and afterwards Quico bought me an ice cream, he is awesome.
