[ Now that Ash has exploded there's quite a few more of the Tease flying around in the center of town. Brook will be doing his best to get as many of those that he can before they get too far and harm anyone. They seem to have no interest in sticking around long enough for him to be as successful as he would like with that endeavor though - there's ( Read more... )

[Hi, Brook. It's raining. And Katara's been warned about these man-eating butterflies, you see, so she's decided to take advantage of the fact that the entire sky just became her weapon.]

Brook! Where are you?

[Drag your brother indoors while you're at it, yes? You kids are going to give him a heart attack being out here, even if he doesn't have one.]

The square! [Stabbing a few more of those butterflies.] I would advise you to stay away from it, however.

[Skull joke! But her voice is very serious when she talks and - she isn't far from there now. She'll be there soon.]

Brook, it's raining. If I can't stop whoever did this in the first place... then I can at least keep those things from hurting anyone else. I'll be there in a few minutes. Try to keep them from getting away.

[She has a better excuse than her brother, not that he's happy about that.]

I will do my best! Take care not to let any of them bite you on your way. They pose a greater threat than I previously realized, and while I don't think a bite alone could harm you we shouldn't take the chance.

[She's not going to waste time arguing, she's made up her mind. And she knows what those things can do - she spoke with Allen. And that's why she's all the more determined to take down as many as she can.

Fortunately, in this case bending's ability to cover distances comes in handy. She stops a good distance away from the square and then begins to gather the falling water with a sweeping gesture. When she has enough to make a good first volley, she sets her stance and rushes it forward in a large jet. It catches a swarm trying to escape on the opposite side of the square from Brook, and she freezes it around them, trapping a little over a dozen to be dealt with later.

Unfortunately, she is made of blood and meat and so she's already starting to attract the attention of the Teases - which will be perfect, as soon as she finishes drawing a covering of water around her body as a hard layer of protection.]

[That ice is Brook's cue that Katara has arrived. He takes care of one more butterfly before heading over to where she's at, since that's where most of the others will be heading. He worries about those for a moment, but seeing the water she draws around herself, he knows she has it covered.]

[He focuses on the butterflies she already froze then. One moment he has his sword drawn by the block of ice, and the next he is on the other side of it, sheathing his sword.]

Hanauta Sanchou: Yahazu Giri! [The ice shatters.]

[Very nice, Brook! And Katara focuses on the thirty or Teases headed in her direction - why do they have to be all fast and spread out like that and erratic in their flight pattern and black and icky? She sends out a large water jet to drag about half of them down and freezes them to the ground, but the others are getting far too close for comfort and there is no way she is letting all fifteenish of them close in on her. She starts to move to the right only to see - crap, about five more that way.

She sends out a few spikes of ice, but it's inefficient...

And that's when she realizes... it's raining. They're already wet.

Katara stops, concentrates, and - stupid power restrictions - lets the water around her body fall. And then she starts to perform a form that will freeze the rain on their wings, trapping the Teases in a thin coating of ice. This should knock them out of the air and leave them to be stepped on and torn apart like any other bug.] Is that all of them?

[Brook turns around, sword out once more, and slices a butterfly in half.] Yes - for now, it seems. [He'll be watching out for more just in case, however.]

[She nods... and starts to walk around, taking care of the Teases she has trapped in the thinnest layers of ice. She doesn't need bending for this, she has the knife that Sokka made her. There are still those fifteen or so trapped in one giant block, and she'll get to them soon if Brook doesn't get them first.]

I haven't seen so many in one place before. Where did they all come from?

[He'll do it - makes him feel useful. It also puts him in a position to stand between Katara and Ash's remains. Once again he sheathes his sword back into the cane, which taps on the ground in front of it.]

Unless I have been imagining things again... they came from a person.

[That makes Katara freeze in the act of finishing off one of the Teases.]

A person? [What Allen had said...] Oh no.

Yes. Let's avoid the details. [As if they're not obvious.]

[Sorry, Brook. Peering around you now for a better chance at.. seeing.. the remains..

Katara turns to the side abruptly, her hand over her mouth as her stomach heaves. It's not the worst thing she's ever seen... but it's close.]

[Brook is quiet for a moment, because no one should have to look at this. More so, it's just wrong to leave the body this way - it's not something he can do. Though he will refrain from picking up body parts in front of someone else, as that's not something you do in polite conversation.]

Thank you for help, Katara-san. Perhaps you should go and find your brother? He was here not that long ago.

[When she recovers enough, she turns to Brook, eyes wide and distressed.]

What was - do you know who?

I do. Ash-san was a young acquaintance of mine; very nice boy.
