[If you're around House 6 early this evening, you'll probably be able to hear this song. Yes, Bink's Sake again - he's in a nostalgic mood. The weather's a bit nicer today, so he's playing outside by the mikan tree. Which reminds him that Nami never did get her mikan - it's been a few weeks now, right? He'll pick one for her just in case and go ( Read more... )

[Scribbled on the journal is a fair approximation of one of these]

These are turtle ducks.

I beg your pardon - turtle ((Ah, they're so cute!)) ducks?

[She nods.] They were mostly found in the Fire Nation, but there were some in the Earth Kingdom too.

I've never heard of anything like them. What an interesting animal!

And then there were these. Guess what they're called.

That's right! They're by the poles. ((And they make a good stew in a hard winter.))

Let's see... what about... these guys?

[YOU ATE THE CUTE LITTLE KOALA OTTER? ;;]

It looks part rabbit... [Not sure about the rest]

[Starve or eat the koala otter. ...Nummy.]

It's a rabbaroo. I'm not sure what the other 'half' is... since this is all I've ever known.

[You're totally supposed to eat all of the not cute animals first. Hence why the octopus always gets eaten quicker in their crew.]

Must be an animal I haven't had the opportunity to see yet! Most of the ones you've shown me look like a combination of two animals.

That's what I seem to hear. And it makes sense, I guess. I mean, we've got gopher bears and skunk bears and platypus bears...

So all of your animals are like that? There must be so many different kinds!

Well. There was one 'bear.' The Earth King had it.

...It was weird.

[He's trying to imagine how a regular bear could be weird and failing miserably]

There's all kinds of bears in my world [Some that look like giant teddy bears even, which he has a sudden mental image of]. Not ones like any that you described before, but it's hard to imagine one solitary bear. Perhaps they're a rare breed where you come from?

[Katara shrugs. And aww, that bear is cute!]

I have no idea. But the Earth King was really attached to it. He wouldn't leave without it, and then he and the bear went traveling together... It must have had parents, but we'd never seen anything like it before.

That must have made him happy - the bear too. If you ever come across them again, you should ask! There could be more of them.
