Authors note- Ok so its 2:00am down here in dull and dirty Portsmouth and I’m currently freezing my ass off!
Therefore I blame cherry_soup888 and bassair for taking advantage of me and trying to get me to write smut, and really tried! And yet ...instead of smut I get this? Sometimes even I don’t get what goes on in my brain!

Anyway's, enjoy ...if you can, as usual all comments are like kittens, loved and cuddled unashamedly

A siren blared in the distance, but not even the harsh, artificial noise could break through the haze that seemed to engulf  everything it touched.

The light faded fast now, a sure sign that winter was approaching, but it didn’t feel that way to Jack. Today he could feel the pain, sharp and un-yielding, like a knife in his stomach, with as much burning clarity as he had felt the first time.

It never gets any easier, they say that time heals all wounds, but when you have so much does it make any difference? Every wound just heals in time for another to rip it apart, until that's all you are, a mass of half healed wounds, clinging to an everlasting life.

And then, just when life seems hopeless, it gives you a fleeting moment, where the world doesn’t seem so cruel. Where you can feel again and know that for a while you can belong here, in this time, in this world and be loved, by someone who loves you back.

Suddenly there were arms around Jack. Even through the wool of his coat he could feel them, warm and gentle, running round his chest and down to his waist, wrapping around him, enveloping him in a soft embrace, that seemed to chase away even the harshest of nightmares.

And Jack knew, there and then, that this was where he belonged, wrapped in the arms of someone who cared, who loved him enough to stand on a roof in the middle of the night and whisper soothing words in ears that had heard them all before. He knew this is where he wanted to be, where he belonged.

Jack sighed and snuggled back into Ianto’s arms, watching the lights of Cardiff buzz and sparkle around them.
Yes, this was exactly where he belonged.
