RL: Taking a ride with Ten~

Chloe nearly bolted out of her chair, barely making it downstairs before tripping. She wondered what Ten had in mind, not that she figured it was anything bad. She just wasn't sure what it was. Not seeing anything in the front yard, she headed to the backyard instead, wondering what she should be looking for.

As Chloe watched, a blue box, looking about as big enough for two people to fit in in a tight squeeze appeared in the branches of a nearby tree.

The doors of the TARDIS opened and Ten's head popped out. "Ermm. Oops. Be down in a minute, Chloe!" he yelled cheerily.

The blue box disappeared once more and re-materialized with a whoosh below the tree, scattering twigs from its earlier crash everywhere. Ten opened the doors and stepped out.

"Sorry about that! Bit of a miscalculation," he grinned, looking down at her.

Before the good Doctor knew what hit him, he found himself caught in the tightest possible hug the redheaded teen could give. "I missed you~!" she cried, sounding more than a little happy to see him.

"Oof!" Ten grinned, blinking owlishly in surprise and returning the hug enthusiastically.

"I missed you too! You wouldn't believe how much angst there is floating around that community!" He looked up at the house, smiling. "So, this is where you live? It's nice. Very, erm, tree filled. Sorry about that, by the way. Hope I haven't damaged it too much."

Chloe pulled away a little, shaking her head. "It's fine!" she insisted, looking around him to the blue box, "What is that, anyway?"

Ten gestured to the TARDIS. "It's my ship. Time And Relative Dimension In Space. TARDIS for short. She's wonderful." He looked at Chloe mischievously. "Fancy a trip? We could go anywhere. Just name it!"

"Anywhere? Wow..." She walked up the the TARDIS, tilting her head. "I never really thought about it, to be honest... Then again, till I joined the community... I thought Chugworth was all there is, too..."

He pushed open the door. "Well, it's a big universe out there. Bigger multiverse, in fact. Why shouldn't you see some of it?"

He stood and looked at her expectantly. "Go take a look inside."

Chloe did, letting out a whistle. "Wow," she breathed, looking back at the outside, then inside again. "This is like Mary Poppins' bag on crack! Awesome!"

Ten snorted to himself. Well, that was more original than anything else anyone had ever said. He grabbed Chloe's hand, leading her inside.

"Well, now we're here, what is it to be, Chloe?" he said with a boyish grin, beginning to press some buttons on the TARDIS console. "Just name it! Up in the atmosphere, up where the air is clear - hang on." He paused for a moment, thinking. "That's Mary Poppins! You've got me quoting Mary Poppins, you have!" He shook his head.

"So? The universe is your oyster, Chloe Winsdale! Oh, and did I mention that it also travels in time?"

Happily allowing herself to be dragged into the Tardis, she was unable to keep the smile off her face. "Wow," she murmured again, "I'm totally blown away man! I'm totally Marty McFly!"

"Not quite, not quite, but close enough," Ten beamed. "So..." He turned a glowing sphere on the console.

"Forwards or backwards?"

Chloe beamed. "That makes you Doc Brown!" she said, "But not exactly. You're way cuter than he is." She giggled. "Let's go back to the future, doc!"

"Forwards!" Ten cried, spinning into action. "Alrighty then! Here we go, hold on tight!"

He cranked a lever nearby, dancing around the TARDIS console as the column moved up and down, making the usual noise as she whirled forwards through the Time Vortex.

"Hmm, 100 years, 200, no, boring. Ah! I know exactly where to take you! Hold on tight!" He turned another lever, giving the TARDIS an occasional whack with a mallet.

"And... here we are!" he announced with a flourish.

"That was awesome!" cried the redhead, "Not to mention fast... So, where are we? Or when are we, as the case my be?" She was positively beaming; she hadn't been this excited since Metal Santa went on tour.

Ten was positively beaming. If his smile had been any bigger it would have come clean off his face. "We're in the year... 3459, give or take, in the Horsehead Nebula and as for why we're here..."

He ran to the door, grabbing his long brown coat on the way. "Well, I'll let you open the door and see, shall I?"

Chloe eyed Ten with a raised brow. "You're going to keep me guessing all the way, aren't you?" she asked, walking by and poking him on the nose with a grin, "Tease." Regardless, she opened the door of the TARDIS and looked outside, wondering what she would see.
