White Ain't Right

Spring cleaning. Good God, how I hate it.

I live in one room. I have crap strewn throughout my parents' house but it's stuff I'm not using right now (i.e. all that domestic stuff I used when I was married) but I essentially have a room and a bathroom to myself. I still have an amAZing amount of shit in my room, like, piles of books, nail polish bottles, clothes, costume jewelry, skulls (what? It's true!) incredibly immature plush creatures... oy. I hate it.

I'm working on cleaning it all up. It really does look like some recent divorcee is camped here. Taking another look at my little nest, it's a wonder someone didn't drag me to a counselor and lock the door. Cripes, y'all.

The upside, I've found some DVDs I've never watched and books I've never read! I've also been reunited with my B.B. King CD. Sweetness.

I had a nasty nail polish incident this evening. I snagged the Lavender Cloud polish by Sally Hansen and got to work, oblivious to the horror that was to strike. This polish is white, with just a slight hint of lavender. In fact, I think the hint's so subtle that the only lavender in it is the name. I started putting it on and... it was awful. It wasn't applying particularly well and the color was all wrong on me. I thought white nail polish might be amusing, or edgy, or amusingly edgy, but it just wasn't. It just looked awful. I ripped that crap right off and threw away the bottle. This is Sally Hansen's expensive 5-in-1 line too (although that's a lie, it doesn't have a base coat or top coat included) so to throw it away had to mean it sucked wholesale. Ugh.

Instead, I'm wearing one of my real favorites: Fuggen Ugly by Man Glaze.

Don't know Man Glaze? Check out their website here. The stuff's a dream, whether left matte or polished up with a top coat. It's a fantastic dark grey with a little shimmer in it. It's damn near perfect to apply, and it dries fast. I enjoy the dry, black humor of the company, too.

They have a black polish - #Matte is Murder - but I haven't tried it yet. I'm sortof savoring it. Plus I have maybe five black polishes around here, so it's not as if I need another. Ahem.

life, nail polish
