in response to person A person B
-if person A never intended to keep the promise in the first place, it wasnt a promise, it was a lie from the beginning

my answer is no. broken promises are not lies.

ex. if a girl promises to herself not to do something because of standards she had at the time. But later on after developing further and becoming a more mature person she decided to break that promise to herself, it wasnt a lie. it was a promise that didnt work out.

but then again promises never really work out.

they are simply good intentioned vows to make things easier

i believe that one should expect a promise to be broken, but not in a bad way.

if a couple says "forever" then treasure forever as long as possible, but everything ends eventually.

i think that by promising something people are prone to try harder to fullfill that promise.

whereas a lie is a flat out betrayal of trust, which represents hiding something, and does not have good intentions.

ex
girl says is that the truth
buy says promises that yes it is

girl later finds out boy lied

thats a lie, because it wasnt true to begin with. he just said it to make girl feel better
