http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/3719708.html A certain games industry analyst is saying that game makers aren't paying attention to the growing proportion of female gamers (in that female gamers tend to value story and character development more than fighting). Really? That might be true in the US where most of the games being sold are Call of Duty or Gears of War clones, but it certainly isn't true, or at least is much less true, in Japan (Hachima points out El Shaddai lol).
Along those lines, Hachima had a stat posted of how although the Tales player audience is split something like 70/30 male/female, the audience that buys Tales goods is like 5/95. Heh. Not surprising if you look at the kind of audience Tales Festival gets.
Anyway more Madoka video commentary:
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14834740That Kuzu na Madoka series I mentioned awhile back got another episode. In this episode Madoka tries to get Mami and Homura to help her beat Sayaka, kidnaps Kamijou-kun, and then fakes her way to sympathy from the entire cast. Then the girls play Mah Jong, Homura uses her powers to cheat but Mami ends up winning. And Kyuubei gets abused again. LOL.
The Drama CD and Special CD I mentioned also got uploaded to Nico. I'm sure they'll be taken down soon but in the meantime it's entertaining to read the comments that go along with them.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14811521The Drama CD, Sunny Day Life, is a lot more lighthearted than the first one, as I mentioned. In this one Madoka and Sayaka get bad grades on a test, so they ask Mami to help them out. Along the way Homura and Kyouko tag along too. There's a diversion as they chase what they think is an underwear thief (but turns out to be a cat), then they all make dinner together. So yeah, nothing like the series at all, LOL. Homura even has a meta line where she says "This is just one of many parallel worlds". And there's a lot of in-jokes, like Mami uses Tiro Finale on the cat (Kyouko makes fun of her for it and goes "Tiro~~~ Finaleeee hahaahahahah!!") and Sayaka says "Atashi tte hontou baka!" in a totally different context from the series. Funny all around.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14812978The other CD is a special talk CD, so all 6 main seiyuu (5 gals + Kyuubei) just sit around and talk about the series. There's some interesting tidbits, like every single one of them actually auditioned for Kyuubei (since they all thought he was cute!). They talk in detail about the big episodes for each character (3 for Mami, 8 for Sayaka, 9 for Kyouko, 10 for Homura, and 12 for Madoka) and just their thoughts during and after recording for the series. Kitamura Eri (Sayaka) can't resist squeezing in some famous lines, like the aforementioned Atashi tte hontou baka and Wake ga wakaranai yo!. Really cool stuff. Given Madoka's huge fanbase here I wouldn't be surprised if somebody at the Puella Magi wiki made a translated transcript of this. I would if I had more time, ha. And at the end, they sign off... by saying Tiro Finale. Heh.
