Musings from the other side (which might or might not be voidness)

Lately I find that I've been reading a lot of alternative comics and listening to a lot of progressive rock, folk and blues (I mean some really out there stuff). When I started thinking about certain fashion movements in society like rave, hip-hop and goth. I came to the conclusion as someone who considered themselves out of the norm and generally labeled themselves for a very long time as a goth, that well I'm not. Don't get me wrong I still find a lot of the culture appealing but honestly I think that I'm too out there for even the goth movement. I mean so many of the ideas, friends and interests that I have come from so many different categories that I don't conform to any labels, I'm just me. I like it, I like the idea that I sooo interested in sooo many things that it can't be labeled or contained. I think labels like goth or punk force you to conform to their specific ideal, how limiting does that mean that if you a punker you can't like "Boston, the rockingest band in the universe" (and there was not a planet we did not rock) how crappy is that. I also have come to the realization that these "labels" often consider themselves outside the norm and oh so individual, well you can't be when you dress like everyone else now can you. So the moral of my story is 1. Don't mess with Texas and 2. Just be yourself and fuck the labels.
