My mother is a major follower of the
Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi. So, at times, when she gets an opportunity (my absence is a necessary condition for this), she tunes in to the Sai Global Harmony channel on Worldspace, where among other things, they broadcast speeches of the Sai Baba.

I'm Australian, been coming here for years. Baba has only once left the country and that to Uganda back in the 60s. He has other ways of reaching people, or is potentially everywhere, so to speak, if you believe as most of us who come here do. I've been coming intermittently for 18 years. I do no consider myself a 'devotee' as I still live very much in the world but I do believe that you having some miles north of you possibly the most powerful spiritual entity ever to inhabit the earth.
Unlike other gurus and temples Baba does not actively market or promote the Ashram or himself - there is also no need to make any monetary commitment and people of no means can stay, and eat, free of any charge.
There is the habit among younger generations to attempt to marginalize those who have faith in a higher energy, a divinity or whatever you would like to call it. However, most of us who come here live very much 'in the world' - we return to a so-called regular life. I own a successful sports and entertainment marketing agency but chose to spend New Years here with my wife, one of India's top ramp models, who also chooses to be here rather than partying in Goa, Sydney, Thailand or wherever the party may be. I say this just by way of illustrating that everyone comes here, not the feral hippie element traditionally associated with western travellers to Indian ashrams (in fact I've yet to really see a feral type amongst the 20000 odd here
What I mean to say, in a long-winded way, is that maybe Ma is onto something... don't let your ego get in the way of making her happy by digging a little deeper.. you might just be surprised by what you uncover if you make just a little effort..
