I try to write down on the calendar on the day Finn does something new and/or interesting. I haven't written down the last few things, and I want to write it somewhere. So here we go.
"Lion" is one of the newest words in his vocab. He didn't have this word Saturday when we went to see the animals at the teaching zoo in Moorpark, which has an African lion and a mountain lion. However, at the zoo he was interested in the owl, and "owl" entered his vocab. Yesterday I was talking about owls while trying to feed him broccoli. There was some sort of mix up in his head, and he is now calling broccoli "owl." I am not inclined to correct him.
Two nights ago he was really enjoying drinking his bottle. It was vanilla almond milk. My little guys didn't know when to say when, and over filled his tummy. He sat up, and barfed up a good quantity of almond milk. When this happens, as a parent your first concern is to aim your kid as best you can. Hopefully there is a trash can, empty bag or something good for the kid to hit. Lacking those, an open spot on the floor that won't be too hard to clean. Your next concern as a parent is to comfort your child. Finn and I got past phase one. I realized he didn't need phase two when, immediately after puking he made a "pppttt!" raspberry style sound, just like he does after I sneeze. He then played. I cleaned puke.
Finn likes ice cream. He says, "i-kee" and he does the ASL sign for it. We have a tub of mint chip, and we will sit on the floor with a big spoon and eat out of the tub. (Man oh man! Is he ever an only child being raised by a single mom!) Last night during ice cream time he put the spoon down and a tube of Blistix of unknown origins came out and he dipped that into the ice cream. Cap on. In his estimates, it made a fine replacement spoon. I was of a different view.
