Wednesday of last week I stayed home from work and packed. I also got my car in for its 160,000 mile service. (It was at 171,000 miles). Robynne stayed at home with Finn when I dropped the car off, and Laura (Finn's fairy godmother) picked me up to take me home. Later on her husband Tim gave me a ride back. Tim and I talked about our high school selves, and he told me how it was tough to be the weird hippy kid at Westlake High who walked through the halls with lit incense, and I just fell in LOVE with him. I chose good fairy godparents for my son.
8 pm Wednesday night Robynne, Finn and I drove out to Escondido. We made good time and got to the Rodeway Inn at 10:45.
Before leaving, my Facebook status was, "What am I forgetting to pack?" The answer was: hair conditioner. And, annoyingly, I didn't FORGET to pack it. I grabbed two shampoos instead! I can handle using hotel shampoo. But they never offer conditioner. And my long locks require that. Sadly I had to do without.
The alarm went off at 6:00 and we were out by 6:45, just as planned. Finn slept through the whole thing. Never even knew we were in a motel.
Traffic to downtown San Diego was thick, but not bad at all. We were parked and ready to geek away by 7:30.
