For Caitlyn (you're welcome)

Mar 03, 2005 21:56

So it's been a while since the update, yep. Most interesting stuff right now? Well, I met with the admissions representative from Culinary Institute of America (now referred to as "CIA") and I had the reception to go to tonight. Only thing that's realy aggravating me about this whole college deal is how every time I have a great idea, or a hope, my dad or someone tries to suggest alternatives, when really, they're not alternatives at all! CIA > all other Culinary Schools. I really wanna go to the Career discovery program thing they're having this summer too. It gives me a chance to see what classes are like for three days and I even get a uniform! The thing is almost $700 and the plane ticket would be almost another $300. Hopefully I can get the plane ticket with my mom's skymiles. That'd be cool..

So that complaint letter for Atkin... yeah... AWESOME! I wrote to the guy via email yesterday, and I got a reply last night, which was GREAT! I'll let you read the good news for yourself.

I wrote this to him:

RE: Letter of complaint two weeks agao

Hey Hook. It has now been almost two complete weeks since I sent a
letter to you. I asked you when I should receive it, and
unfortunately, I have not yet to received it. To double-check my
mailing address, here it is:

Tommy Carfrey
167 Penrose Dr
Savannah, GA 31410

I thank you again for replying to my letter, and I hope to receive the
mailed letter soon.

And he replied this to me last night:

Tom,

You letter was sent last week and should arrive anytime.

Sorry I could not get to it sooner, I wanted to communicate the letter
to Gary Scott our Customer Service Director and see what he might know
about it. I in turn had photo and video shoots last week that kept me
away from Pearl some of the time.

I'm glad you wrote in though, it was thoughtful and professional. I'm
sorry things happened the way they did. With thousands of orders being
placed every day, inventory can change quickly. Both Pearl and Mass
Music obviously don't want anyone to have delivery issues that stem
from communication problems. As a matter of fact, last fall we did alot
of extra work to our computer systems here to help the process, the
system was altered so that customer service reps here could look and
see which orders were ahead of other orders when dealers call in to
check inventory levels. This cuts down on these and similar delivery
issues. Timing, communication, and inventory....the wheels that make
this thing go. It sounds like inventory was close when the order was
placed, and somewhere in the mix, the drum you wanted went out on
another order that was being entered into the system. The inventory
level could have also been affected by our annual inventory, as with
any business there are always discrepancies during inventory time. When
inventory levels are close, a dealer should make you aware of it as
that it can affect the delivery time.

I'm again, very sorry about the way things played out, regardless of
why it happened. If you want to blame someone, blame us, we are part of
the process and would rather take responsibility for it than push it
off on someone else. It also gives us the opportunity to try and make
things right.

This evening Jim Phiffer, President and CEO of Pearl Drums, walked into
my office to chat. During the conversation I remarked that I had this
e-mail and in turn showed him your previous letter. We went over it, he
read it, and then we talked about the process for some time. Jim took
me to the back warehouse, pulled a Pearl Varsity Jacket out of
inventory and said, "Make sure he gets this and convey my apologies."

So you have a Pearl varsity jacket headed your way, as well as the
other freebies I included with your letter. Again, our apologies for
the situation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime, my
number is below. This is the fastest way to get ahold of me, I get tons
of e-mail and even more PM's on the forum, so phone is usually a sure
bet. If you've ever in Nashville, please come and see us, let me take
you out to lunch, play around in the studio, and I'm sure the guys here
would like to meet you. The offer is always open.

Best wishes,

~Hook

I'm getting (literally) a $300 Pearl Varsity Jacket FOR FREE! The CEO of the company just walked in at the right time! This weekend - work, and probably some good 'ol school work. Now that my mom's finally got her computer up, I'll be able to get online from there, and do assignments too. I've gotta find things to do most likely sunday afternoon. I don't think we'll be that busy at work.
