Tonight's the big game. We're in Frankfurt now and, as expected, the majority of the fans are wearing Brazilian gear. Brazil: The New York Yankees of international football. Hmph.
They are, for the most part, pretty friendly though. And there are still a decent number of french supporters around too. Where we are very much in the minority is that we have tickets for tonight's game - several people have already commented to us on how lucky we are. One guy told me that tickets for the game are selling for €1200 on eBay. I decided I'm not going to sell for less than €10000 though. :)
It was wonderfully crazy here last night after Germany beat Argentina (with two great penalty saves from Arsenal and Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann). Lots of people singing and dancing - and after Italy beat Ukraine it got even crazier. The Italians sure know how to celebrate - by driving around and waving flags and honking horns. There were cars stuffed full of people, people standing through sunroofs or in the backs of convertibles or, in one case, on the hood of a car. Good fun and, as has been the case this whole trip, fantastic atmosphere. Here's hoping there are huge celebrations for France's victory tonight! :)
