Down in California with the family for a nice long weekend... it's been quite pleasant, to be sure...
Laura & I arrived on Wednesday afternoon. Thanksgiving day consisted mostly of relaxing, walking the dog, stuffing ourselves silly at a lovely buffet at the St Regis, and watching a few episodes of Extras.
Yesterday, we did a bit of shopping (got some new {much needed} hiking boots) as well as some more relaxing. In the evening, we drove up to LA to have dinner and see a production of Measure for Measure done by the Globe Theatre...
...as it turns out, Measure for Measure is not one of Shakespeare's better plays. It was, in theory, a comedy but in reality it wasn't quite sure which way to go and didn't do the funny stuff or the serious stuff very well. The acting was OK but no where near good enough to salvage a rather pathetic play (the exception being the character of the Duke - the actor played that role quite well). In addition, the play was scheduled to run 3 hours with one intermission. We left at the interval. Very disappointing...
Today was some more relaxing. We took the dog for a nice walk and I watched the Arsenal v Blackburn game (3-0 Arsenal!). I think we're going to go do a wee bit more shopping and then have a barbecue for dinner. Whee!
There's also been quite a lot of darts and 9-ball. Jamie consistently wins at darts but I've managed to consistently win at 9-ball. This is something new for me since he's generally vastly better than me at these kinds of games.
Tomorrow morning, Laura and I start the drive up to Seattle. The weather forecast is not great for the pass at Mount Shasta but hopefully it won't be too challenging. And hopefully we don't argue the whole way. :)
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are happy & healthy!
