So holy crap, we just bought a condo. Well, we came to an agreement with the seller. Still have to get an inspection, bank assessment, all that other unsexy stuff. Closing isn't until the end of March, but assuming everything goes well, we'll be homeowners - like, with a mortgage - by the beginning of April. I've been having mini anxiety attacks all week, because frankly, that's rather terrifying. Exciting, but very terrifying.
I don't want to say too much about it in case anything happens during inspection next week, but it's a 770sqf 1 bedroom near Kenmore, so not far from where we live now. It's on the ninth floor and has a private deck with city, river, and park views. So... I'm pretty stoked. Outdoor space in the city! Can't wait to make it our own space. I have dreams of paint cans, new hardware for the kitchen cabinets, and all sorts of leafy things for the deck. Maybe a small compost bin? My mind is spinning with ideas. Anyhow! It's hard to keep my enthusiasm in check.
On Tuesday I met with the people from Carney. Long story short, my philosophical views on recovery models diverge from theirs, so I won't be taking the job. It pays more, but I don't think I could stomach working with such sanctimonious people, who subscribe to black-and-white, either-or thinking, especially in something as gray and nuanced as psychology. Oh well, I like the kooky team I work with now, anyhow.
Alex and I didn't do anything for Valentine's, because we typically don't, but especially because our money and energy has been focused elsewhere. This is a great gift, though. I'll post more info on the place once things are a bit more cemented. Crazy!
