I can't think of a snappy title for this hodgepodge

Is there anyone who can lend me a digital camera, please? It'll need to include means for getting pictures form camera to PC. I probably only need it for a week or so.

I have a digital camera, which as far as I know still works - clarisinda, it's your old one. How many times have you upgraded since then, I wonder? Anyway, it uses a SmartMedia card, and both card and reader are AWOL somewhere in my house. I'm having another pop at this decluttering idea; once I have decluttered, I may find the missing parts; but in order to declutter through the medium of selling stuff, I need a camera first. Lovely.

ION, my laptop isn't broken after all. I haven't been able to get it to charge for months, but I figured out it wasn't the laptop, just the power lead assembly. I've got around to buying a new AC adapter, only now it turns out that that isn't the problem: it's the actual lead (which I erroneously referred to as a "kettle lead") between adapter and socket. It may be something as simple as a blown fuse (shame I had to spend £10 to figure that out). I don't have 3amp fuses in right now, so am trying to cajole myself into a trip to the shop to procure some, returns Col's lead to him, and then have a go at installing Mint. This project was conceived of in April. Hey, I got to another month starting with A without 12 months passing in between, at least! I'm feeling a little annoyed about all this - some decent trouble-shooting skills would have helped here - but I suppose I should feel happy that there are some small successes to report, in amongst all the failures and apathy the rest of the time. The other (technology) success being that Col has figured out why the front speaker / mic jacks on the PC weren't working, and has fixed that. Gaming with headphones awaits.

Ah yes, tiredness: I went over to Alexys' last night to dye each other's hair, full success all round, although it got quite late, therefore it was a little tricky to get home. I still had conditioner on my hair, so washed that out, waited for it to dry, got distracted playing EVE, decided I couldn't sleep anyway, drank valerian tea, and eventually collapsed in bed around 4:30. I was expecting to sleep in, you see, but had forgotten than Col needed to come home before work to get fresh clothes. Cue waking from deep sleep around 9:30. Decidedly groggy around the edges, that's me today, hence trying to figure out if I can bear to go as far as Tesco's. Fresh air and cycling, prospect of lunch, getting actual food for actual dinner, plus if I go I'll have a project for this afternoon: reasons for going are many. I'm waiting for them to percolate through my brain. Maybe more coffee, at Starbucks, will do the trick?

If I succeed today, then maybe I'll even make it along to a French lesson tonight. My current plan of attack goes a bit like this: use smart.fm for learning vocab, then start on "501 French Verbs" and "French Grammar", interspersed with reading Le Petit Prince (chosen because I have the EN version, and it's a great book - the first couple pages made me smile even though I could only work out roughly what was going on), before moving on to the "First French Reader". Round all this out by some conversation practice. I've no idea what tonight's class will be like, given it's free, and being held in a squat in East London, but I lose nothing except time by going, right?
Further advice and offers of conversation practice are always welcome.

OK, let's try getting dressed.
