A mixed bag

That's what this week's been like. Worked hard on Monday, didn't do much on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I hammered the translation pretty hard; I was at Benjy's, with the heating engineer ripping out radiators and replacing them, thus with no heating or hot water until the evening. My sedentary occupation meant I felt the cold, so had breaks for tea, hot food, and especially for playing silly games on Wii Fit. It turns out that hula-hooping as though you're possessed is the quickest way of warming up.

This all continued until I got kicked off the PC so the engineer could rip out another radiator; after he'd left and heating had been switched on again, I had my last work session from 20:00 to 22:00, then collapsed on the sofa to watch The Devil's Whore and feel brain-dead. Very broken indeed.

Early start the next morning; for one, I was awake around 5:00, and the engineer was due back around 7:00. Since it was the day of the deadline, I braved the masses during rush hour to get home and finish everything off - with time to spare, as it turned out. So my estimate of "4 days, 3 if I push it" was bang on, albeit that I worked on Sunday, too, just to get a head start, which meant Tuesday wasn't a disaster.

Relief after completion; then made myself humanoid and left the house to a) meet Benjy's eBay buyer and hand over goods, b) meet up with Col and his mother for dinner, c) meet up with Kate to go to the Dälek gig (she's written it up, so I'll avoid duplication). It was really good to be out, and to feel I deserved a break from work.

Then again, it's left me at a really loose end today. I have stuff I could or should be doing; but it don't seem so urgent now. Therefore, it's not getting done, at least not so far this morning. Hmmm. Not sure what to do...

Maybe I should make like Pooh, and work out what's for breakfast.

PS: Someone else pimped this elsewhere, and I thought it might be useful to someone on my f'list:
"If you ever do transcribing (as I've been doing for the last week, for a friend) of digital audio and are fed up with the inadequacy of media player/ real player/ quick time for such a job, you should download express scribe to your computer. It's free, very user-friendly, and it makes the task of transcribing about 100 times easier."
