You get high or low, no in-between

Yesterday was a nice day; went to the gym again, did some stuff at home, then made my first ever Avon delivery, hoorah! I also went to the Apple store to sort out my iPod, which broke when I was trying to delete all music and reload - it refused to recognise the iPod, even after wiping it a few times. Of course, it worked fine in the store, tcha! I guess I'll try with some other tracks today, it could have been the files, I suppose... but meanwhile, I've got 224 tracks uploaded, most of which I don't even know. I shall have to steal them before wiping the iPod again :-)
[Edit 12:28] Nope... was formatted on a Mac... I can't get to the files. Which is Funny, I suppose...

In the evening, altered_state and I were supposed to stage a return to Jitterbugs - we've missed a few weeks of Lindy Hop, due to one thing or another. But then minnietheminx texted me about a new night called Rock A Hula - hula hoops and rock'n'roll in a pub in Hackney - so we had to try that instead. We did some dancing, but were the only ones. In fact, when we arrived, it was only the five of us - Benjy, Jools, Mary, Vlad, and me - plus the girl who'd organised the night. And we had to wait for the football to end before any decent music could go on. But other than that, it was amusing; there were various hoops, mostly the light plastic kind that you have to spin really fast, but also some GIANT HOOPS OF DOOM (made of plumbing pipes, very blue, and matched my jumper) that everyone managed to get going, they were that heavy and slow. Brilliant! Of course now I've got bruises on my hands from the hoops I was spinning - I find that much easier than round my waist, I can tell you. Nevertheless, I am somewhat encouraged by my initial success with the giant hoops. Now if only I knew where to get hold of some plumbing pipes... ;-)

Tuesday was unusually bright and cheery for me; I don't like Tuesdays at all, as is well documented, and what with naughtiness and late night on Monday, I was expecting to feel rubbish, but no! Jumped out of bed, and felt good all day (but I made a post, so shan't repeat it). In the evening, I met wildeabandon for some free jazz in a pub in Kennington that had neglected to tell anyone that it had stopped running that night... poot... but we made do with drinks and lovely Thai food, and good conversation.

Monday, as already documented, was a bit low; but the thing I didn't mention was that Benjy and I wandered over to see a new/old friend and collect a pair of VERY BLUE trousers. It's a delight to meet someone so easy to get on with, so I'm just going to have to hope we'll coincide again sometime. Also: while the whole Pudding Mill Lane / Hackney area is a bit naffed for getting around due to Olympics fun, and the area feels like it ought to be rough, it's surprisingly good: Greenway, and a random stranger who offered direction, and some very nice flats (even if there's no labelling whatsoever, and you have to phone your host to figure out how to get to them - up and down stairs until you locate the lift). I expect that area is going to be Prime Property come 2012, so I hope our friends aren't renting, is all I can say.

There, that's your lot for now. I should get on and plan the rest of my day - might go out and see people, might mooch about the house. Col and I will be off to Southampton at some point this weekend - either tomorrow or Sat, and might come back Sat or Sun, depends on catsitters and how much decluttering we want to do, and when. It's a good thing nobody needs to know these things in advance, no? And with a bit of luck, I shall come back with tales of driving Jags, hoorah! I really, really miss driving. Lots.

Thinking about it... my life's going pretty well in general. Of course you always get upsets, people do odd things and don't always get on, but by and large it works out ok in the end. I like the freedom I have at the moment, though I want to make better use of it, and find ways of staying in a good mood more often. I guess the only bugbear is money, really... it'll be ok, but it's just the getting there, and the lack of readies meanwhile. But there we are.
