The Diamond as Big as the Ritz

After Saturday's fun (gig + after-party, stumbled home around lunchtime), you wouldn't have thought we could get to Sunday (Monday?) 2:00 drunk as lords, would you? Yet there we were last night - after a short power nap - eating Japanese food that I'm pleased to say went down very well with Colin's father and cousin, and the family friend (who was also the toastmaster for our wedding, for those who were there). Later, we went to the Swan, since P's eyes rather lit up at the mention of Old Peculier; when that closed, on to a hotel bar for more ale etc. It was really good fun as per usual.

Today, I had an agency interview with Tate - if anyone wants a referral, let me know, they seem pretty good so far, and there's goodies in it. The paperwork and IT tests were tedious and took a long time, but the interview itself was good. The Consultant gave an interesting run-down of how Tate differs from other agencies, I was impressed by the emphasis on quality and looking after candidates over the bottom line. I may have a client interview tomorrow (provided the confirmation ever comes through), or other things in the pipeline shortly. After that, I nipped into Starbucks for coffee, and discovered that they have got together with Penguin and the Times to offer free Penguin 70s in the Monday paper. Today's offering was The Diamond as Big as the Ritz by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which I devoured along with my coffee and ginger slice. I don't think I can count it in my 50 Books, however, since it's only really a short story. Still, it's given me renewed encouragement to tackle The Great Gatsby, which I've had lying around for some time.

Tonight, it's another dinner with the in-laws - Colin's mother this time, along with the cousin. We'll probably meet up with the guys for drinks once they're done with their Lodge event. Tomorrow, yet more drinkies with the girls, and so the week passes... certainly no complaints from me :-)
