Holy fuck

I'm alive!

As I found out this morning there are things worse than than digging your car out from under over 2 feet of snow. Like, Having to drive said car through the piles and piles of the white shit that the plow trucks can't keep up with plowing...and then having to drive through said piles of white shit UP A HUGE HILL with absolutely no traction. I am in desperate need of snow tires, but getting them now will most likely be a waste...I spent an hour driving a total of 8 miles. I was so stressed out by the end that as soon as I was safely in the lab I just sat there and cried. (Why yes, I am a sissy, thank you for noticing)

Cornell was the ONLY place open in the whole town, I swear, and they kept us there till 12:30 when even the ivy league hardcore Ithacans decided that enough is enough. So what did I have to do? Slide all the way home. I am lucky that there are no stop signs/lights going down-hill, otherwise my poor Eclipse would be decoration for some confused college student's house. In any case, after much panicing and crazy-slow-stuck in 2nd gear driving I am finally home.

Why did I brave such conditions and didn't just call in like most other people did? Well, I am a sucker and we had some shit that HAD to get done today or New York State officials would have my boss's hide for it. So, since those things were my responsibility, I decided not to be a complete douchebag and put my work before my personal safety. What can I say, I'm a sucker. No way in hell am I doing the same tomorrow if this craziness continues (which it's threatening to). I may be used to driving in snow, but driving in snow ON HUGE HILLS is a whole other story. Minnesota does not prepare you for this.

In other news, I am thanking my lucky stars that my boyfriend is amazing enough to have not only dug out my car in the morning but also had a spot cleaned out for me to pull into when I got back. Forget chocolate and flowers and cute stuffed things, he's the best V-day present ever by himself (but the other stuff was nice too :D)

I hope the rest of you are able to enjoy today cuddled up somewhere warm with a man/woman/being they love!

Happy Valentines day!
