This line, "because Ryan’s awesome and he knows-knew how to decorate," just broke me. The rest of the story too. They are so stubborn and proud and there are so many hints of things that you never fully expand on but shade the entire story. Just wonderfully written.

Oh my God. Oh my God, I am trying really fucking hard not to cry right now, okay? Oh my God. Just. Ow. This hurt, but in a really really good way. Like. You've captured perfectly that bittersweet, picking-up-the-pieces thing that inevitably has to happen after someone dies. And ugh.
