Being for the Benefit; a DT aside

So I know a great many of you lurk about my journal in hopes that I'll update dirtytrousers.

For just about six entire months I ate, slept and breathed Dirty Trousers. )

Forget Christmas; I'm counting the days until February 1st :) I'm so glad that you aren't giving up on DT because I think it is seriously the best AU I've ever read. I've never cared so much about AU characters before, but I find myself squealing for Harry and Pansy, holding my breath for Theo and Seamus and checking LJ during class on my laptop to see if Draco and Ron finally give in to each other. If you ever turn DT into a original novel I will never sleep again; my eyeballs will be dry but happy to feast on such an awesome story.
And if this helps to inspire you, I made a sparkly notebook that features the DT cast, with all their names written in silver sharpie and random glitter everywhere.

Darlin' I completely understand. I STILL haven't finished HBP six months later. I can't make myself. It reads unedited and the most...shudderworthy of any fanfiction. I don't know, I think it killed my love of writing pretty much too. So, I'm on that boat with you. I've been really reading any fiction, not even yours and you know I love yours. I just haven't felt connected to the fanfic part of fandom here lately. Disconnected, you might say.

RARELY, not really. Lord almighty, trying to have a breakthrough on oneself makes havoc on posting.

bad fanfiction! completely! Was it you who I had that old conversation about Anne Rice and unediting and how much worse that makes a story??? Anyway, same idea, I think. If that makes sense.

I can't make myself love any of the "new" aspects of the characters. It's rather sad. But I'm still hoping that I can take back DT *nods*

I don't know if it was us, since I haven't mentioned much the fact I haven't read the story. Most people tend to think that's strange. But I thought of Rice instantly when I read Book Six. It's just so....disconnected (a theme I'm noticing) from the rest of the series. The instant Harry grown up phase, Ginny being his girl, Ron and Lav, Slughorn, Dastardly Snape....it's like all the cliches of the fanfiction world into on. I'm waiting for Snape to fall in love with Hermione AND Harry, and for Draco to profess his eternal love to Ginny. It's just that bad.

I don't like any of the new characters and I'm only 300 pages in. It jsut is...BAD. Which sucks since I paid out the nose for the damned book.
