Hello!
Well, I'd like to let you all know how my weekend went. My parents went ahead and sat Anthony for me so that I could concentrate on the road. That and they probably figured I'd be drinking (which I was) and they don't think drinking and kids go well together (they don't). So... I'll begin with the adventure on the highway. I started off on 117, meant to catch 33 and missed. BUT I caught it right away, turned around in a graveyard (hello nice dead people) and got back on track. Time lost? Five minutes. So, all's well until I hit Columbus. well, I get off the highway, miss my turn on to the street that goes to the hotel, turn around in a Shake 'N Bake and get back on track. I check in, put my stuff away, smoke a couple cigarettes and call a few people. Then, I go over to this bar across the street, have a drink (b/c I needed one after that ride on the scary highway) and walk back to the hotel. I meet Heather's parents at the same hotel (they couldn't ride with me b/c they left at 7 that morning), ride with them to Heathers and play with the kids until it's time to go to the rehersal. Wait, back up a sec.
While we're waiting for the rehersal we decide to let the kids swim. Children are Gage (6), Lexi (5) and Melissa (3). Gage is the girls' now step-bro. So... Brian, Heather, me and HEather's paternal grandparents were sitting by the pool watching them swim. Melissa was NOT allowed to leave the steps of the pool b/c no one could find the arm floaty things. Being three, she forgot or didn't listen. brian's standing three feet from the edge of the pool. I'm having a cig with Heather and her gramma and grandpa's laughing at these teenage guys that are trying to impress these teenage girls who are NOT impressed. (Note, it is NOT impresive when you do belly-flops on purpose, throw innocent people into pools or try to drown one another, OK?) Suddenly... we see curly blonde hair and a set of big blue eyes. The rest of her is under water. MELISSA! Heather jumps up dives into the water and pulls her out. Brian's still standing three feet from the edge of the pool. Heather wraps Melissa in a towell, the other little kids are laughing at Heather for "mommmy! You forgot to take of your clothes first!" Melissa's crying. Heather says, "Did that scare you?" Melissa says, "No! I'm MAD AT YOU. I was SWIMMING!" Glad that had a funny ending. As for brian? Well, he was thinking Melissa would swim toward him. Apparently, that's how his dad taught him to swim. Maybe he lost some brain cells when hid head hit the bottom. Sheesh!
Soooo the rehersal was boring but useful, the dinner (at a pizza place) was free but really greasy (Yik, I HATE THAT) and Heather's little niese Bethany started feeling sick (we thought it was traveling stuff, she lives in WV) We get back to the hotel, havew some beers and poor Bethany's temp is rising. She's not hurting, just hot. Hm. She was born with one of her kidneys not working right so we were worried about that but no back pain so...
The wedding was beautiful, I didn't lose the rings, I made sure no one stepped on her dress and I kept the little flower girls from killing one another. And I didn't fall down. I just had to keep from laughing. Brian kept laughing his ass off the whole time, Heather kept crying. It was a good wedding though. They made up their own vows and while they should have sounded sweet and poetic, it started sounding really, really sappy. Oh well. I had fun decorating the getaway vehicle, I ruined my stockings and my hair fell down halfway through the ceremony (according to the hairdresser, my hair has no body) well, whatever. Screw her anyway. At least I don't look like I stuck my finger in a light socket. Heather and Brian were on their way to Myrtle Beach last time I checked and so far as I know... everything's cool.
The ride home was a little nerve wracking b/c it rained and my right windshield wiper got loose. I pulled over at a rest stop, tried to fix it, did a halfway decent job. I got home safely. And yes, I had fun. :)
