I believe days like this are what the overwhelmption icon was made for....

At least I haven't brought any bookshelves and chairs down upon my head. Yet.

So, there's a boil water order for the greater Boston area (article here), which means everything is just slightly more difficult than it already would be for someone on crutches like me. A bit ago I went to brush my teeth, right? And once I had painstakingly crutched ( Read more... )

Buttershots is tasty, though. You should not be ashamed. This too shall pass.

Oh it's definitely tasty. This is why we bought the ginormous sale!bottle at the New Hampshire liquor outlet. There's just something about the way it's sitting next to empty chocolate, and cookie, and painkiller packaging, and without any appropriate glasses nearby (because Moss actually cleared the tiny cordial glass I'd had some in last night).

As I said on sovay's page, you guys (you and she) were first in my mind when I heard the Boston news. Like, all you need on top of everything is a boil-water order :-(

Liquid candy, eh. And it's alcoholic? I have to check that stuff out.

If you like the flavor of butterscotch hard candy, Buttershots is pretty much that in liquid form with just a bit of an alcoholic kick. We got the world's biggest bottle at a New Hampshire liquor outlet last weekend because it was ridiculously cheap. Mmm, candy.

Census folks aren't supposed to come in, we are supposed to be trained to stay on the porch unless the respondent invites us in, and even then to use best judgment about accepting.
Not cool for her to have opened up with that! Especially seeing as how you're all on crutches!

Interesting. Well, I think as I'm on crutches, that's probably why she asked if she could come in. I think she was thinking of having me sit down, which I ought to be doing most of the time right now. She wasn't pushy at all, just concerned. I think I probably looked pretty shaken up, and maybe a bit pale because when I inadvertently put weight on that ankle it really hurt.

Man, that's the last thing you needed. Lots of sympathy, and the hope that the rest of the day is much less harrowing.

Of course when Louis XIV shows up to solve all my problems, it'll be a dead giveaway.
