First,
there's another person out there who needs help to get a big medical issue resolved. The amount she needs ($2,700) is totally doable if enough people band together to make it happen, and it will save her life. I know money is tight all around these days, but if you have any to spare, please consider donating at the above link, or buying a fun
t-shirt or similar. We've got to look out for each other, because the system isn't going to do it for us right now, as much as that really sucks.
Second, this week's
Outer Alliance Spotlight with Hamish MacDonald is live, and it's full of interesting things. One of the best parts of this interview business is that I get to learn new things from all my interview subjects. Hamish has a lot of neat resources to offer, from a podcast that teaches you how you can design your own books, to a website that exists to connect scientists with writers. Neat!
And finally (I meant to mention this days ago, but this week somehow got away from me),
Strange Horizons is featuring work by not one, but two of my friends this week!
"Cory's Father" is a short story about crows and people, and the border between here and elsewhere by
asakiyume, and
"How to Bake a Cake From Scratch" is a poem about cake, the universe, and everything by one of my Viable Paradise classmates, Lisa Nohealani Morton. Both of these pieces are awesome, and I urge you to check them out.
