George Bush in Oz
I'm sure someone else has made this comparison before, but listening to NPR this morning it occurred to me that the Bush administration reminds me of the Emerald City of Oz. The Emerald City from the book, not the movie, where it wasn't really green, it only appeared to be so because everyone had to wear the green-tinted spectacles that made it look green. In Oz everyone believed the lie because it was told enough times and the Wizard could show evidence to support it that looked credible at a quick glance. But take a look underneath and you can easily see that it's all a sham. Yeah, sounds like everything the Bush administration has done since 9-11.
I think George Bush is Dorothy, Dick Cheney is the Tin Man, Donald Rumsfeld is the scarecrow, Carl Rove is the Cowardly Lion and that leaves Colin Powell/Condeliza Rice as Toto.
