I suspect that line is left out because it might be especially painful for a mourner to contemplate the parts other than hope, like our existence and the dreams that may no longer be possible with someone in particular. Odd then that "May the universe persist while you and all those who surround you dwell in this plain of existence. May the universe persist forever." is included... Does leaving the hope line out, by comparison to the others, actually highlight that line in a subtle way?

It's an interesting question. I wish I knew more about it to give an informed opinion.
