shawn's leaving

he's off to the farm today. it's over in riverhead which is not too far but he's going to be there for like 8 months. lola is upset, needless to say. I'm going to miss him so hard. it's just going to be me and her in the house now. who will be there to interject unnecessary screaming into our conversations? who will be there to make fun of me for being too long? who will cook us delicious vegetarian nom noms? arrrgggghhhh.

last night was really nice though. I was busy visiting colleges on friday and most of saturday but I got back into the city around 5 on saturday, so I headed into abc. damn, I haven't been there in so long. lola had to dip out a little early to go to a job interview (which she got! free gelato for meeeee) so I wound up bonding pretty hard with emma. she's in a similarly shitty lack-of-boyfriend situation. she got more angry over my situation with evan than I did, hah. but she's also a fantastic person and I'm sure we'll both find someone eventually.

lola came back a little while after the show ended, after we finished cleaning up, because we wrapped up uncharacteristically early that night (like 6:30). me, her, shawn, emma, paul, nat, and some other volunteers chilled for a little while afterwards. gabba and morgan were there volunteering that day too, and invited me to her afterparty at her hotel room on 121st, but my goal that night was more to chill with shawn. they dipped out before I even got the chance to tell them I wasn't going.

eventually nat had to leave and me, lola, shawn and emma all went over to paul's house all the up on 139th. paul got us a cab and it took us like an hour to find one that would take all five of us hahaha. eventually we ended up squished three in the back row with emma laying down across all of us and paul in the front. when we got into paul's building it was hilarious, because while getting out of the elevator all of these kids ran by fucking shitting their pants because they had obviously just been smoking weed in the stairwell and then they saw paul and we all just nervously cracked up.

paul's apartment is the ill fucking bachelor pad. I mean, I've chilled in dirtier places, but this shit was a cave. he had this giant cigar ashtray overflowing with literally hundreds of cigarette butts hahah. but we all got comfy and put on this dvd of banned warner brothers cartoons and started routing through paul's book collection. we had so much fun laughing and commenting on the blatant (and I mean blatant) racism in the cartoons but also on the weird beauty of the animation, while paul and emma passed a blunt and everyone sipped on miller high life (well, except me and shawn, so I guess that's not everyone).

a bunch of paul's friends from the neighborhood showed up, and the night went on. rich came through after work and was starving so we all ordered vegetarian chinese food and pigged out. then we put on this new movie called "punk vacation", which was a horrible unreleased film from the 70's about a bunch of motorcycle riding 'punks' with teased hair running around raping and stabbing people in the woods hahah. it was blatantly meant to be some sort of public service announcement but it was so poorly made, written and acted that it was just funny.

by this time it was around midnight and me, lola, and emma were falling asleep in a big cuddle puddle on the couch. lola and I decided to head out. paul's elevator wasn't working and we tried to get him to help us fix it but he was too stoned to remember any of the tricks for his building hahah so he just walked us downstairs. we had a pretty deep taxi-ride conversation on the way back. rachel cz apparently wants to drop out of high school and get her fucking ged, which is such an insult to everyone that's invested their time, money, and emotional and mental energy into helping her finish her education. she doesn't even have a good reason for it, she just doesn't want to do homework. if she can't handle an essay I have no fucking clue how she's going to handle a 9 to 5.

when we got back to lola's house we didn't feel as tired any more, so we stayed up discussing, smoking cigarettes and watching law & order svu. shawn came by around 3 in the morning to pick up various articles of clothing and toiletries that he'd been keeping at lola's, so I stayed up for another hour chillin in her huge, unbelievably comfortable bed with the both of them before I fell asleep around four and let them have some privacy.

me and lola rolled out of bed at noon, and after I stopped at home to change clothes and such we spent today in blue stockings drinking coffee and doing all the school work we left off and chilling with emma, who was working there today. sort of a boring day, but a nice way to round things off.

cheers.

rich, school, coffee, food, shawn, lola, friends, yeah, emma, rachel cz, fun, paul, movie, homework
