Trivia Dorkery
Those who know me know that I am a huge movie/tv trivia dork. Today I discovered two things that amused me enormously:
1) Watching the trailer for Doctor Who 4.02, which takes place in Pompeii, I spotted Peter Capaldi, who was also in Neverwhere and Local Hero. When I looked up the episode on IMDB, I discovered that he's playing Caecilius, whom I first encountered when studying the Cambridge Latin course fifteen years ago. *dork*
2) Watching the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, the identity of a familiar-looking actor was bugging me. It took me a few minutes to learn that he was Kevin McNally, and I knew him from both Pirates of the Caribbean where he plays Mr Gibbs, and from I, Claudius, where he plays Castor. I never would have guessed those two characters were played by the same actor. *boggles*
I've been annoying my friends this evening by pointing out and getting very excited over all the obscure British actors I've spotted in YIJC (Tony Robinson showed up with a French accent, and Claudius's mother is a regular as well). OK, so nobody cares but me....
