Natalie Portman is still in my top three.

So Lieberman didn't do as well as I thought he would in the recent Israeli elections, but his marginal success was enough to uphold the realization: Israel is quickly moving in the direction of Nazi Germany. I know I know, Godwin's Law, but y'all know that I'm not usually one for polemic hyperbole. Given the extermination/occupation happening in Gaza, and this kind of thing, I can see the pieces falling into place. As anti-Arab sentiment swells among the Israeli people, propagated and legitimized by Lieberman's growing Yisrael Beiteinu party, Iran will take advantage of the West's depressed power and beef up their defenses "just in case." A small arms race will ensue.

Let's say the Stimulus Package fails to keep America from sinking significantly deeper into recession and Republicans even out the House and Senate in the 2010 midterm elections, effectively cockblocking any social programs in the works. They're assholes like that. Let's say a Republican (Jindal?) gets elected president in 2012, just before the next Knesset election in Israel. By then Lieberman has a huge backing and he sweeps it. A final "reclamation" of Palestinian land (read: genocide) ensues, prompting an Arab coalition led by Iran (and backed by Russia) to attack Israel. America gets behind Israel. China gets behind Iran. World War III!

Of course, I don't actually think all that will come to pass, but it's a potential. Israel is a spoiled, bratty child suckling the glut off America's swollen teat, and the rest of the world hates that undue privilege. I think Obama did a good job feigning unconditional support of Israel in his campaign, but if push came to shove, he'd sacrifice everything he could to keep us out of a true international war in the Middle East, even if it meant breaking ties with "our strongest ally." At least I hope so!

Fucking Nazi-ass Israel.
